What is GITC?
The Government Information Technology Contracting Framework Version 5 (GITC V5) contains standard contractual terms and conditions for use in the acquisition of Information Communication & Technology (ICT) products and services.
By agreeing to the terms and conditions laid out in the GITC Agreement, approved suppliers of IT services choose to abide by a set of standardised rules in all of their commercial dealings with Government agencies.
As the majority of contractual provisions are pre-agreed through the GITC Contract Authority, the time associated in negotiating contracts between the Customer and the Contractor is reduced.
What are the benefits of GITC?
There are a number of major benefits offered to both the Queensland Government and the supplier providing the services through the GITC procurement process, some of these include:
- A streamlined purchasing process between the public and the private sector;
- Consistency in both purchasing and contractual arrangements across Government and the IT industry;
- Greater protection to the Government in its procurement activities;
- An open and competitive IT business environment for both buyers and suppliers;
- A reduction in the cost of doing business for buyers and suppliers by providing standard and effective contractual provisions.
